Dear Edinburgh,

Dear Edinburgh, I’m sorry. I’m sorry it has taken me so long to realise that I do, in fact, love you. Things did start out pretty rough, I’m not going to lie. I had no place to live, you were crawling with students fighting tooth and nail for every available …

I don’t know why, but all of the photos that I’ve taken recently which I want to share involve flowers. Maybe it’s a phase. Maybe it’s the recent sunny weather. It actually been recognizably summery around here the past few days. With the recent release of Pokémon Go, I find myself wandering around new parts of my neighbourhood and enjoying more spontaneous Edinburgh photo shoots.

Pictures like this remind me of the time when I was more serious about photography. I always liked taking pictures of nature more than people or buildings. I’m trying to keep an open mind as I get back into the photography mindset, but pictures like this just feel like my old stuff. I like that feeling.

Spring has sprung in Edinburgh (finally)! We are coming to the end of the first full week of nice weather this year. Yes, I actually had to bring my sunglasses out of retirement. Of course, now that I’ve started my research project, the majority of my days are spent inside the lab. At least I can enjoy seeing the sun through the windows.

Loch Lomond 10.2015

Here’s a picture from the spontaneous road trip I took last autumn with a few friends to beautiful Loch Lomond. Highlights included staying in a ‘hobbit house’ (no joke), the beautiful town of Luss, and the giant wooden gateway sculpture/seat/building at the top of the loch (which I’d usually find a bit weird, but I genuinely really liked this time around). A+ weekend away.
