About Me

Dear friends, comrades, and strangers –

Hello! My name is Genna, and apparently you want to know a bit more about me and my blog. I hope I can be of some help here, but I dislike talking about myself, so this is definitely a difficult thing for me to write. For now, I am going to keep it short and sweet and (hopefully) prevent this from sounding like a terrible dating profile. Here goes…

Originally from New England, I lived my whole life in the same state, same town, and same house. For some reason I thought it was a good idea to go abroad for university (despite barely being able to spend a night away from home until my junior year of high school). Not only did I survive for three years in England, I absolutely loved it.

Needless to say, I wasn’t quite ready to leave the UK by graduation. Instead, I decided to move even further north to Edinburgh to complete my MSc in Human Osteoarchaeology (think of it like the academic love child of Lara Croft and Temperance Brennen…basically).

Having been away from home for four years, I knew it was time to go back across the pond. I ended up fulfilling another life goal: living in NYC. I had an apartment in Brooklyn with my sister, I had a ‘real job’, and I paid taxes. Despite that, I was still dreaming of the days I spent wandering around new countries and cities. I knew I wanted to go back to Europe.

Rejuvenated by my time at home, I set off again on a new adventure. My destination? Ireland. Armed with a work holiday visa and a very thick sweater, I am now on the Emerald Isle. How will this spontaneous decision play out? Your guess is as good as mine, but I’ll be writing all about it here.

I made this blog to keep my family and friends in the loop with what I am doing, but I figured someone else might get a kick out of it, too. If it involves cake, cats, travel, or books, I am totally there. What I should really say is if you think the adventures of a granny trapped inside the body of a twenty-something sound good, then welcome aboard.

Until next time, make new friends! Say please and thank you! Make good choices!

Genna
